INFURIATING Social Security Announcement Is a Slap in the Face to All Senior Citizens

Billions of dollars of fraud and waste has been discovered by Ben Carson, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Unfortunately, this is the dilapidated state of affairs that the Obama administration has left in their wake.

Social Security is especially important to the American people because it directly impacts many who are unable to earn a livable wage due to disability, age, or being orphaned. Many of those who take advantage of this benefit have paid into this fund from their years of wages along with their employers, with the expectation that the benefits would be there when and if they were needed.

Fraud in Social Security means that the money has been taken out of the pockets of those who have paid into the fund, leaving less for current and future use.

Almost $600 million was stolen from Social Security by Attorney Eric Conn, who plead guilty on March 24 and has since slipped out of his ankle monitor and disappeared on Saturday, possibly to Cuba. Conn had promised his clients in Kentucky that he would get the best social security and disability payments for them. In return, he defrauded the Social Security Administration of $550 million. He was released out on bond and was due back for sentencing on July 14.

It doesn’t look like he’ll be making it back in time for that.

“It was totally predictable that he would flee’ said attorney Ned Pillerdorf, the representation of some of Conn’s former clients. ‘I was always shocked that, when he was arrested, he was actually allowed out on bond. And there has been a betting pool going on in Prestonsburg [Kentucky] on not if he would flee, but when.”

Who let this guy out on bail? Apparently other people knew something that had clearly been beyond the judge who let him free before sentencing.

Now we’re out almost $600 million. Although the real tragedy here is that the people who truly need these benefits are suffering.
